Passengers of a British Airways flight on a twelve hour journey headed to London Heathrow from the Turks and the Caicos Islands, found themselves in a predicament where they were served just one KFC drumstick after regularly scheduled meal services were canceled due to an unforseen “issue”.

The airline said in a statement chock full of puns on the matter: “We apologise to customers that their full meal service was not available and we had to wing it on this occasion. We’re sorry if we ruffled any feathers.”

They didn’t say why the meal service was interrupted but a tweet from a passenger provided further information on the matter.

@HeathrowAirport after a 12.5 hour flight BA252 from Turks and Caicos with no catering! BA had to serve@kfc at Nassau giving some lucky passengers 1 piece of chicken. The container with the plane catering wasn’t chilled so all thrown away!!

Many passengers were angered, and took to social media to point out their grievances with the airline, and the situation which they endured.

The food that made up the flights standard menu had spoiled due to the cooling “containers” failure, and everything was thrown out. During a scheduled stop-over in the Bahamas, the flight’s solution was an impromptu KFC run for buckets of fried chicken.

Why they only bought fried chicken though, and glossed over also buying sides like biscuits, or mashed potatoes is anyone’s guess. It’s a little strange to dileanate one or two drumsticks per person over the course of twelve hours. Perhaps the logistics just weren’t there?

The airline seemed to think that their solution wasn’t too shabby.

British Airlines statement continued, “Our teams sprung into action and made sure our customers had something to eat. ”

Upon landing, they offered refreshment vouchers for passengers, although some people on the flight questioned via Twitter why they couldn’t be reimbursed.

No further statement from British Airways at this time, has been issued.
