McDonald’s is changing up the Happy Meal game. For a limited time – they will be bringing in a new type of Happy Meal that caters exclusively to adults.
The streetwear clothing brand, Cactus Plant Flea Market Box is collaborating with McDonald’s for this special line of adult Happy Meals that will be making their debut on October 3rd.
For the kid in everyone, the new Happy Meals aren’t holding anything back – that includes the toys. Each Happy meal will come with one figure of a character that is being conjured from the past.
The retro characters include Grimace, the Hamburglar and Birdie, as well as a newbie named Cactus Buddy.
Each box will contain one updated version of the classic (or one new) highly recognizable characters.
From the looks of it, where once the characters had two eyes, the ‘updated’ versions will now have four. They seem to be going for a more ‘zany’ appearance with crude looking mouths.
“We’re taking one of the most nostalgic McDonald’s experiences and literally repackaging it in a new way that’s hyper-relevant for our adult fans,” said Tariq Hassan, McDonald’s USA chief marketing and customer experience office in a release.
Cactus Plant Flea Market Box is an exclusive clothing brand that comes with a high price tag, some pieces sell for as high as $1,000 online.
The brand crept onto the scene with it’s off-kilter designs making waves in the fashion industry and gaining recognition by celebrities like, Ye and Pharrell.
McDonald’s hope that in partnering with the trendy streetwear brand, mixing it with the timeless Happy Meal concept and throwing in a dash of nostalgia …is that the Happy Meals will fly off the shelves much in the same way that their other marketing campaigns have done for them in the past with celebrity collaborations.
The adult Happy Meals are coming to town and you won’t want to miss them, so get one before they sell out and end up as relics on Ebay.
