It all started with an innocent tweet about Chick-fil-A’s spicy chicken nuggets not getting any love.

Chick-fil-A made the innocuous announcement that they would be bringing back the spicy chicken sandwich for a limited time.

Twitter user, Don (@KANYEISMYDAD) – responded by tweeting his dismay about the spicy chicken nuggets disappearance and continued absence.

It was what Chick-fil-A said in response to Don that raised quite a few eyebrows and ruffled feathers from here to tither.

Chick-fil-A’s contentious reply, “Your community will be the first to know if spicy items are added to the permanent menu, Don!”

The dubious choice of wording “your community” struck a nasty chord and twitter was aghast that Chick-fil-A would make such a despicably racist comment.

Of course Chick-fil-A swiftly released a statement, conducting damage control:

The response was a poor choice of words but was not intended in any way to be insensitive or disrespectful,” a Chick-fil-A spokesperson told “Today.” “We often use the term ‘community’ in a broader sense to talk about places where we operate restaurants and serve the surrounding community.” (Courtesy of: Foxbusiness.com).

Many on Twitter weren’t buying it and in fact vowed to boycott the alleged racist, chicken eatery…

Some users like, ‘VeryCleverUsername’ commiserated with Chick-fil-A responding that they knew what the tweet intended when they made the unfortunate remark.

Upon further investigation it seems that Chick-fil-A may have been using the phrase “Your community” in numerous responses to tweets regarding discontinued menu items and if they would return in other markets.

Whether Chick-fil-A was subtly making racist generalizations or innocently referring to different markets in areas of the country…Doesn’t seem to matter – Twitter went ape with the post garnering, 11K likes, thousands of retweets, and re-quotes.
