McDonald’s is proving that value reigns supreme in the fast-food world. Their recently launched $5 meal deal has so far been a recipe for success, attracting a significant influx of customers.

The deal, featuring a McDouble or McChicken, small fries, a four-piece Chicken McNugget, and a drink, debuted on June 25th as a limited-time offer. It wasn’t long before it started ringing up results.

According to Placer.ai, the launch day itself turned into McDonald’s busiest Tuesday of the year, surpassing that record again just a week later on July 2nd. Compared to an average Tuesday in 2024, visits jumped a substantial 8%.

This success isn’t surprising. The $5 meal deal comes at a time when inflation is pinching wallets and consumers are seeking budget-friendly options. McDonald’s isn’t the only fast-food chain recognizing this trend. Their arch-rival, Burger King, also rolled out a similar $5 Your Way Meal around the same time.

The following days of the week also saw increased traffic compared to the rest of the year.

This price war continues to show the competitive nature of the fast-food industry, where value reigns supreme. While the long-term impact on McDonald’s finances remains to be seen, the initial response suggests the $5 meal deal is a golden opportunity to lure customers back in through its doors. The problem is, it will only be available for one month.

With the success of the deal, will they extend it’s availability?
