McDonald’s is feeling the heat from McDonalds franchises in Muslim countries after donating thousands of meals to IDF soldiers, and hospitals over the past week.

To date, the chain has donated 12,000 meals and a 50 percent discount is at play for soldiers. The conflict has now spilled over into McDonald’s donation duels, amid support for both sides.

A boycott was called for by multiple franchises, and retaliatory announcements, with donations flooded in from the franchises, and countries that oppose Israeli support, and stand with Gaza.

McDonald’s Oman, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and, United Arab Emirates answered back by announcing that they would be donating $100,000 to Gaza.

In addition, McDonald’s Turkey and McDonald’s Kuwait also donated to Gaza…Turkey, donated $1 million, and Kuwait – $250,000. A statement released, further drew a line in the sand, announcing their independence from Israel.

Kuwait said: “We announce…that we stand with our brothers and sisters in Palestine, especially in Gaza, and we reject any and all claims questioning our Arab or our Kuwaiti identity.”

McDonald’s Israel released a statement:

“Update that already yesterday we donated 4000 meals to hospitals and military units, we intend to donate thousands of meals every day to soldiers in the field and in drafting areas, and this is beyond a discount to soldiers coming to restaurants. We opened five restaurants that were only for this purpose.”

The donations and boycotts are pouring in after the horrific Hamas attack on Israel that occurred on October 7th and left at least 1300 killed.

Tensions are high as nations, and communities take sides, voicing allegiance to either Israel or Palestinians sequestered in Gaza. The McDonalds element is the latest to get drawn into the shuffle.

McDonalds Corp declined to comment on the matter and McDonalds Israel ended up locking their social media account.
