Starbucks is in the hot seat over accusations connected to Pride month, and the company’s supposed refusal to allow the use of Pride decorations at many locations.

In the ongoing backlash, the Union has rallied against the corporation with more than 3,000 workers spread out over 150 locations threatening to walk out next week, and strike, starting Friday.

Although Starbucks denies the claims made against them, many workers have come out through social media documenting instances where they were told that decorating for Pride month was off the table.

LOS ANGELES, CA

The coffee conglomerate in an effort to add to their denial noted that they offer Pride merchandise in their locations which suggests the refusal to partake in Pride decorum is unfounded.

One supervisor named Amanda Rivera at a location in Atlanta, said: “We’ve been told because we don’t have a ladder, we can’t hang up our pride decorations,” Rivera said. “We were also told that Starbucks doesn’t want us to have anything apart from how the store was designed.”

Another reason given at a different location is that there simply “wasn’t enough time” to decorate for Pride month.

The Starbucks VP of partner resources, posted message in a plea to the the Union president asking their members to cease from knowingly misleading partners.”

The Union Starbucks Workers United expects more of it’s 8,000 members and locations to join the strike as we get closer to next week.

The VP continued on to deny the allegations: “There has been no change to any policy on this matter and we continue to encourage our store leaders to celebrate with their communities including for U.S. Pride month in June.”

It looks like Starbucks, and/or their Managers have landed themselves in hot water with this one. Workers will be posted up in front of Starbucks locations, ready to block deliveries, and make a stand.

The fast food industry has had its fair share of strikes in the past twelve months over various issues but Starbucks has had multiple strikes alone within the past two months. Seems to be a recurring theme…
