How does a 15-foot, giant…RED Dairy Queen spoon make an inconspicuous getaway? That’s what the husband and wife owners of a Dairy Queen in Phoenix, Arizona are asking themselves after discovering the prop spoon missing-in-action.
The Dairy Queen location had just opened on March 6th and for the past few weeks, the ‘selfie’ spoon has been a public draw being situated on the exterior of the fast-casual ice cream focused restaurant.
The spoon had been a photo-op for Instagram users up until it vanished last Friday.
Owner Raman Kalra, told Fox Business: “That morning, our store manager, Salvador, called [the police], reporting the theft. He drove around the neighborhood to see if somebody just left it around there. But, he couldn’t find it, then he called the police.”
The spoon featured outside of a DQ offers a special distinction. Out of the 34 Dairy Queens that Kalra owns, only 2 locations have the 15-foot spoon on display. The spoon is reserved for newer or renovated DQ locations.
“Out of my 34 stores, only two have the spoon — but now just one,” Kalra said. It’s safe to say that Kalra would like his giant spoon back.
No luck on potential video capturing the spoon thief as the Phoenix Police Department says the location had “limited” surveillance. The case has been turned over to a detective in the meantime.
As for now, the owners just want the safe return of the 15-foot spoon. No questions asked and they’re even offering a reward to sweeten the deal.
“We just want them to bring the spoon back and as a reward, they can have one of every Blizzard treat flavor on a new summer menu,” Puja Kalra told FOX Business.”
It remains to be seen if the spoon thief will go for the reward. Or if the person/s already got their ‘just desserts’ in the form of a giant, red spoon.
Another question lingers…how does one stash a 15-foot spoon?
