Wingstop took a cheap shot at Popeye’s chicken sandwich lambasting them for how dry their sandwiches are. The resulting devastation that hit was like a Category 5 Hurricane.
Whoever is at the helm of Wingstop’s Twitter is probably kicking themselves for making this ill-advised retweet of an original Popeyes tweet about their chicken sandwich.
Wingstop captioned it, calling them out saying that their sandwiches are “drier than biscuits”.
The collective response was bananas. As if lying in wait, tons of people countered by tweeting pictures of raw chicken and other stomach-churning ingredients that they were served by Wingstop.
The response from Wingstop to the many raw chicken pictures…were in the vein of “Oh, we cannot believe this! Contact us with more info so we may attempt to do damage control”.
As one response already pointed out, she was left on ‘read’ when she brought it to their attention previously.
People crawled out of the woodwork in the droves to take issue with Wingstop. And the meme’s were a-flyin’.
One guy posted a picture of a roach alongside bones with a side of a piece of chicken.
@GagandeepDipak I love eating roach with my fries and them wings I paid $20 for with nothing but bones.
Wingstop was getting torn apart. They had opened a can of worms they couldn’t close by maligning Popeye’s beloved chicken sandwich.
@rett_r this sandwich caused more hype than a sneaker release I already forgot y’all had one don’t even try bruh
How Wingstop did not see this one coming is anyone’s guess. Did they forget about the nationwide upheaval that occurred when Popeye’s chicken sandwiches were sold out upon release in 2019? It wasn’t pretty and someone was even fatally stabbed over the sandwich.
The mouths behind the marketing team of Wingstop’s Twitter surely went as ‘dry as biscuits’ once the negative reactions rained down upon them. There was nary a sympathetic voice in the bunch.
The unfortunate tweet has become viral in a short amount of time with almost 200K likes and 26K retweets. And steadily climbing, unlike Wingstop’s reputation.
