Food delivery services have transformed the way we eat, offering the convenience of having meals delivered straight to our doors. However, not all deliveries go as planned.

While it’s common to hear about late deliveries or missing items, there are instances when things take a darker turn. This article takes a look at ten instances where food deliveries turned violent, casting a shadow over the industry.

8. The Disgruntled Customer Attack (2022):

A pizza delivery driver was assaulted, in Tuscaloosa while in the middle of a delivery because the customer was upset it had taken so long to deliver his food He was left with multiple injuries, and a stay in the hospital as a result. The customer was apprehended shortly afterwards and faced multiple charges.

7. The Weird Encounter


A Doordash delivery driver was held at gun-point, the problem was he hadn’t committed a crime or caused trouble of any kind. The incident was blamed on racism as the gunman zeroed in on the driver dropping off a delivery for no reason of any kind. The guy holding the gun was charged with aggravated assault.

6. In-Fighting Among Brothers (2022):


A large group of delivery drivers engaged in fisticuffs with one another outside of a McDonald’s in London. It involved over twelve delivery driver’s and became an out-and-out brawl that carried into the streets.

The reason for the melee was an apparent app scam that some of the delivery driver had cooked up which led to unfair practices that affected the other drivers negatively.

5. Food Delivery Road Rage (2023):


In Florida, a man wearing cowboy hat got a delivery driver in a choke-hold as they engaged in a road rage incident. It escalated into a physical altercation with one driver assaulting the other with a pizza cutter. The assailant was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

4. The Hostage Situation (2018):


A pizza delivery woman in Atlanta was taken hostage by a man while attempting to make a delivery. The man held her captive for several hours before police negotiated her release. The perpetrator was apprehended and charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault.

3. The Food Hostage (2021):


In Toronto, Canada, a grocery delivery driver was set to drop off a order when the customer pushed her inside and locked the door. She proceeded to cause bodily assault, and injury to the driver. It’s not known why the customer attacked the driver but, thankfully she was apprehended and charged with assault.

2. Philly Robbery Gone Horrific (2010)

In 2010, a pizza delivery driver in Philly was robbed, and assaulted by a 19-year-old male. In the middle of the ordeal, he ended up suffering a heart attack and passing away. The teen pled guilty to murder by heart attack.

1. Driveway Shoot-Out (2023):


Two teens delivering for Instacart in Florida, were shot at multiple times after they pulled into the wrong driveway while attempting a delivery. The 43 year old man who shot at them said that he “feared for his life”. The teen’s car was riddled with bullet holes, but they escaped without injury. No criminal charges were filed a investigators felt both parties were in the right.


While food delivery services provide convenience, these violent incidents highlight the risks involved for both drivers and customers. It is crucial for companies to implement and enforce safety measures to protect everyone involved. Additionally, the public should remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to ensure the continued safety of these services.
