It’s a known fact that some of the best items from fast-food menus have disappeared over the years. They left an indelible impression on our taste buds, and even years later, we long for their return.

We found nine such fast food items that people wish would make a comeback.

9. Taco Bell’s Chili Cheese Burrito

The Chili Cheese Burrito (at one point called the Chilito) was a fan favorite during the 90’s and when it was discontinued, patrons were heartbroken. By this time the Chilito had developed a dedicated following that started multiple petitions to bring it back.

In 2021, it was brought back for a limited time – which proved to be somewhat of a tease as fans want the item brought back to be enjoyed, permanently.

8. McDonald’s McSalad Shaker

The McShaker was introduced in the early 2000’s, and was served in a plastic on-the-go cup. It had a lid so you could shake the dressing all over the contents to get an even dispersal. There were three varieties; the Chef, Grilled Chicken Caesar, and Garden Salad.

A few years later it was discontinued due to poor sales, and replaced by a salad served in a standard bowl. Fans of the McSalad still lament over their discontinuation, like this poster on Reddit:

7. McDonald’s McRib:

This elusive menu item first appeared in 1981 and, much to the dismay of fans, comes back for only limited periods. This barbecue sauce-slathered pork sandwich, topped with onions and pickles, has a dedicated fan base that constantly clamors for its permanent return. There’s something about the unique combination of flavors in the McRib that keeps people wanting more.

6. Burger King’s Cheesy Tots:

Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, these bite-sized potato and cheese treats were discontinued in the mid-2010s but have since made brief reappearances. Cheesy tots were a unique side dish that broke the mold of traditional fries or onion rings. The scrumptious snacks were truly irresistible.

5. Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Nuggets:

Wendy’s discontinued their Spicy Chicken Nuggets in 2017, causing an uproar on social media. The lightly breaded, fiery nuggets had a devoted following that wanted to enjoy the spicy version of the popular fast-food staple. Fortunately, due to public demand, Wendy’s brought them back in 2019. However, fans remain anxious as there’s no guarantee they’re here to stay.

4. McDonald’s Hi-C Orange Lavaburst:

This was the iconic drink pairing for any Happy Meal. Its sweet, citrusy flavor was a highlight for many kids (and adults) until it was removed in 2017. It did make a comeback in 2021, but the demand remains for it to be a staple offering.

3. McDonald’s Snack Wrap

The Snack Wrap hit menu’s in 2006 becoming a popular on-the-go handheld snack. They were available as; crispy chicken, ranch, and honey mustard.

They became so popular that when discontinued in 2016, fans were upset and called for it’s reprisal. Apparently the Snack Wraps took too long to make which hindered efforts to get the food out the door in a timely fashion.

2. Subway’s Roast Beef Sandwich:

As part of a menu overhaul in 2021, Subway discontinued several items, including its classic roast beef sandwich. This decision was met with dismay from fans, who have been vocal about their desire for its return.

1. Pizza Hut’s P’Zone:

The calzone-like item was stuffed with pizza toppings and folded into a crescent shape. The P’Zone, a spin-off of the traditional pizza, offered a different way to enjoy the classic flavors of a pizza slice. Its discontinuation left many fans wishing for a return of the giant pizza pocket.

The ever-evolving fast food landscape will surely bring new stars and favorites. Still, there’s something undeniably appealing about these long-lost classics. Whether nostalgia or genuine culinary genius makes them so missed, one thing is clear: if these items ever do make a comeback, they’ll be welcomed back with open mouths.
