Cardi B, the Bronx-born rapper, recently took to TikTok to share her thoughts on the best burger in California. In a surprising turn of events, Cardi, who has previously expressed reservations about LA food, found herself raving about a burger joint called Easy Street Burgers.
The video, filmed alongside social media influencer and self-proclaimed “food critic” Keith Lee, featured the duo sampling various offerings from Easy Street. While Lee, a long-time Easy Street champion, showered the restaurant with praise, Cardi initially remained skeptical. “Y’all know how I feel about LA food,” she declared at the beginning of the clip.
“I’m like a real big burger expert, so if I don’t like it, i’m going to tell you in your face. I’ll be honest“.
However, her tune quickly changed after taking a bite of the Jalapeño Monster Burger. The burger, a classic smash patty loaded with cheese, pickles, and jalapeños, struck a chord with Cardi. “This one is perfect,” she exclaimed, comparing its flavor profile to a “chopped cheese,” a New York City bodega staple. While she stopped short of a perfect 10, awarding the burger a solid 9, it was clear Cardi was impressed.
Cardi’s endorsement sent shockwaves through the LA food scene. Easy Street, already a popular spot, saw lines grow even longer, with fans eager to try the burger that won over the “Bodak Yellow” rapper. The video itself garnered millions of views, solidifying Cardi B’s status as a trendsetter, even in the realm of fast food.
Cardi B is no stranger to the fast food game, she takes her eats seriously – in February 2023, she teamed up with McDonald’s and rapper, Offset for the Cardi B & Offset Meal for Valentine’s Day.
And last December, Cardi B posted a video on Twitter where she ranted about Chick-Fil-A, and how they messed up her order. In the viral video, she can be heard ranting about the chain: “F****ng Chick-fil-A. I’m really getting sick and tired of y’all muthaf****s. First of all, this is the second time y’all do this. Y’all do this yesterday and y’all do it today. So that’s why I’m gonna put in a complaint.”
She’s definitely passionate about her food, and as a food critic? Her outspoken ways mean she can be trusted if she recommends anything.
While the exact location of Cardi B’s favorite burger remains on the West Coast, who knows, perhaps this newfound love for LA cuisine, and Cardi’s review putting a spotlight on the restaurant…will move Easy Street Burgers into other locations, nationwide.
