Domino’s took the initiative to do something that’s never been done before to solve a delivery dilemma surrounding getting pizza to festival-goers…the solution was to fly pizzas to people heading to attend the Glastonbury Festival by way of a man donning a jet pack.

The sight was surreal as the delivery man glided through the air assisted by four rockets forming the base of the jet-pack that costs “hundreds of thousands of pounds” to put in the air.

Asst. P.R Manager Sam Wilson said, “this year we wanted to take a giant step towards and trial our very own rocket man service to help hungry campers get a slice of sky-high satisfaction in the future.”

Apparently every year during the festival, Domino’s gets many calls from people attending the festival asking them if they could deliver pizza to their location inside the festival. So Domino’s cooked up the idea which Jam Press reports was inspired by Elton John who would be playing the Pyramid Stage this year.

“When we realized pitching up to serve slices inside the festival was impossible, we took inspiration from this year’s headliner to launch our own rapid delivery trial – it was a bit of a no-brainer,” Wilson told Jam Press.

The suit was designed by Gravity Industries and customized specifically for the delivery act to keep the pizza warm and the pilot safe.

Many people in attendance were in awe and couldn’t believe what they were seeing as the delivery man zipping through the air. He was back and forth, dropping off the pizza and then back to headquarters to stock up for another delivery.

“Seeing a jet suit thing fly over Glasto was wild,” gushed Natalie Dixon to Jam Press. “I’ve never seen a jet suit, let alone one delivering pizzas.”

Domino’s announced “deliver anywhere” this week, a new GPS, hotspot technology that will be able to deliver anywhere a customer drops a pin on a map this summer. Maybe the jet-pack method is testing for the ambitious new move?

One question remains…is there such thing as a jet-pack surcharge?
