Domino’s has set forth another tech advancement in a continued partnership with Google Maps that will cater to delivering (deliver anywhere) to a customer’s location, even if they’re not at a set address or building.

Customers will now be able to drop a pin anywhere on Google Maps that will serve as their location to receive pizza, and voila – pizza on the beach.

It’s called Pinpoint Delivery, and Domino’s will continue using Hotspot technology that has been stream-lined even further to pinpoint the customer’s location.

Previously, the franchise had implemented delivery using Hotspot technology in 2018 that allowed customer’s to order pizza to over 150,000 locations without a residential address.

This newer, more ambitious system will up the ante on where customer’s can order from and customer’s will still be able to track their order and the location of the delivery driver.

Christopher Thomas-Moore, Domino’s senior vice president and chief digital officer, in a statement. “With Domino’s Pinpoint Delivery, customers can get their favorite menu items just about wherever their adventure takes them — whether they’re soaking up the sun at a beach or having a picnic with friends in the park.”

The recent commercial advertises Pinpoint delivery showing a cacophony of out of the box deliveries being secured in various locations including, in the middle of a sky-diving session.

This new method definitely raises the bar on convenience for consumers but it reeks of future disgruntled delivery drivers.

More fast food restaurants have been exploring adding additional convienance and tracking capabilities. McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A recently enabled GPS tracking for customers placing digital orders that will have staff make a customer’s food when their location is pinged near the restaurant.

Deliver anywhere, Domino’s says…but to what end? On a bridge, on a boat, in the middle of the desert? This should be interesting to see play out…

The feature is set to go live on June 26th, and continue through August.
