Ahead of the 4th of July holiday, Pepsi-Cola has gripped its teeth into a new limited-edition concept or condiment called, Colachup.

From the looks of it, the Colachup has a darker coloring, and straddles a fine line between Ketchup and barbecue sauce. The added Pepsi will likely lend to a sweeter taste giving it some extra panache.

Early reports are calling it sweet but surprisingly good which has us very intrigued, and antsy to get the low-down on it.

The new condiment is part of the #betterwithPepsi campaign that is promoting Pepsi to be the perfect complement to hotdogs, and the like. Just in time for the upcoming, fourth of July, BBQ-frenzied holiday.

Pepsi has also partnered up with a couple baseball teams to promote Colachup. There will be sampling carts present at three partnered baseball teams and their game-day locations on the fourth, including; Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Yankees.

Locations Sampling Colachup

  • Chase Field, Phoenix, AZ; Section 130/131
  • Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY; Pepsi Lounge (Pepsi Lounge Ticket Required)
  • Target Field, Minneapolis, MN; Section 113
  • Comerica Park, Detroit, MI; Section 139

“The concept is both simple and creative. The distinctive flavors and vibrant citrus blend of Pepsi enhances the bright and tangy characteristics of ketchup, offsetting the smokiness of the hot dog,” said David Kamen, director of client experience for CIA Consulting. “It’s a whole new way to enjoy two American classics!”
