In a playful nod to anime culture and a stroke of marketing genius, McDonald’s is launching a brand new experience: WcDonald’s. This isn’t just a new menu item, but a fully immersive campaign inspired by the fictional “WcDonald’s” restaurants frequently seen in anime and manga.

On February 26th, the promotion will launch globally in over 30 markets. The star of the show is the Savory Chili WcDonald’s Sauce, a unique dip created specifically for the campaign, and to pair with McNuggets.

The Savory Chili WcDonald’s Sauce is made with ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and a hint of chili flakes, it promises an “energetic blast of flavor” reminiscent of the dynamic spirit of anime heroes. Customers can pair it with a 10-piece pack of WcNuggets, the classic Chicken McNuggets with a special “WcNuggets” branding.

But the experience goes beyond just food. The limited-edition packaging for the sauce is designed by renowned manga artist Acky Bright, featuring hand-drawn characters from the WcDonald’s Crew. Each package also comes with a code to unlock a weekly digital manga chapter, further immersing fans in the world of WcDonald’s.

From the details of the diverse Crew characters to the manga plot itself, I loved being able to use my artwork to bring to life the dynamic, vibrant world of WcDonald’s for people around the world.”

The campaign doesn’t stop there. McDonald’s has collaborated with Studio Pierrot, the animation studio behind iconic series like Naruto and Bleach, to create a four-episode WcDonald’s anime series. These shorts will be available online and promise to bring the WcDonald’s universe to life.

McDonald’s also brought back the Shamrock Shake earlier this year than in previous ones. It will still be available for a limited time but fans of the shake will enjoy it’s longer stay on the menu for the time being.

The WcDonald’s campaign kicks off on February 26, 2024, at participating McDonald’s locations in the United States.
