Taco Bell is taking nachos to the next level, testing a new spin on their staple side dish, called Cantina Loaded Chicken Nachos. This new menu item combines the brand’s crispy tortilla chips with their Cantina Chicken, a variety known for its freshand flavorful seasoning.
For now, testing of the Cantina Loaded Chicken Nachos will be available in select locations in Bakersfield, Calif to gauge interest ahead of a possible nationwide launch. The Cantina Chicken Menu will debut in March nationwide, a move which the chain announced during the Live Mas Live event in Las Vegas. It features a menu built around fresh ingredients, and several items using the new offering, Cantina Chicken.

The Cantina Loaded Chicken Nachos build upon the success of Taco Bell’s existing Loaded Nachos, which feature a choice of protein piled high with nacho cheese sauce, pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream. The new version takes this base and elevates it with the addition of their seasoned Cantina Chicken, offering a more robust and flavorful experience.
The chain also recently launched Loaded Beef Nachos as part of their updated Under $3 Cravings Value Menu. It consists of beef, refried beans, sour cream, guacamole, Nacho Cheese sauce, and a red sauce.
Taco Bell spoke to Eat This, Not That! on the testing Nachos: “This delectable nacho extravaganza is a true celebration of bold flavors and textures, making it a must-try for those lucky enough to get their hands on it.”
This will be the first time that Taco Bell has officially offered a chicken Nacho option. The closest thing they’ve had was Naked Chicken Chips which were introduced in 2017. They were more akin to chicken nuggets as they were really just spice encrusted chicken…shaped like tortilla chips.
While the exact details may vary slightly depending on location, customers can expect the Cantina Loaded Chicken Nachos to cost about $6.49. Whether they stay that price if they launch nationwide, is another question.
Taco Bell has been heating up the competition since the New Year began by announcing a plethora of new items coming down the pipeline. They teased new treats such as the Baja Blast Pie, and the return of the Choco Taco. There’s even talk of a giant Cheez-It Crunchwrap on the way in 2024.
