Taco Bell has been adding, and testing a medley of new menu items over the past month or so, and now the most recent item being tested are Cheesy Street Chalupas…in numerous Indianapolis-based locations.

The street-inspired Mexican fare consists of a, Quesalupa-type Chalupa shell filled with mozzerella, and pepper jack cheese, shredded chicken or grilled steak, jalapeno ranch sauce, which will then be topped with chopped onion and cilantro.

The press release said the Cheesy Street Chalupas will be sold in a pair with a price range from; $5.49 to $5.99.

Over the past month, Taco Bell has added five menu items; the Cheesy Jalapeno Mexican Pizza, the Toasted Breakfast Taco, Steak & Bacon Grilled Cheese Burritos, Nacho Fries, and the Chicken Enchilada Burrito. They also added the Vegan Nacho Cheese Sauce shortly thereafter.

Another recent announcement revealed that the chain will be testing Chicken Nuggets in 80 locations in Minneapolis. Taco Bell noted in the press release that they want to duel with the likes of McDonald’s, and KFC to come up with a better nugget than other fast food chains.

Except Taco Bell is going to be using white meat chicken in their chicken nuggets to set themselves apart from the competition.

With so many new items hitting the menu, it’s a wonder other chains don’t follow suit. Unlike Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A rarely adds a new item, preferring instead to stick to the tried-and-true classics. Chick-fil-a made headlines over the summer for introducing a new chicken sandwich for the first time in years…the Honey Pimento Chicken Sandwich.

Depending on how the Chicken Nuggets, and Cheesy Street Chalupas test in these markets…we many be seeing a nationwide roll-out to menu’s in the not to distant future. Stay-tuned…
