Taco Bell is doing a thing, and that thing is, adding chicken nuggets to the menu for the first time in history.
The chain will be testing out their own version of chicken nuggets (Taco Bell Chicken Nuggets) in just one market at 83 locations in Minneapolis starting October 12th, and then will push for a nationwide roll-out depending on feedback from customers.
And to accompany the nuggets, they’ve created two new dipping sauces, Bell Sauce and Jalapeño Honey Mustard.
What sets these nuggets apart from other fast food chains nuggets? White meat chicken. And the nuggets will be marinated in jalapeño buttermilk.

Brand marketing representative Jessica Perri said:
“This is like truly a very premium nugget. It’s not a chicken nugget patty you might get at some fast-food restaurants. This is very much more elevated.”
The chain notes that they will be leaning into chicken more than ever before due to the demand for it, and that, so far, they have been missing out on a huge market in nuggets by not participating in the category. They also think they can do better than their competitors.
Taco Bell CEO Mark King said:
“Right now, a large percentage of our business is beef, and the Gen Z consumer wants chicken,” he said. “We have a big opportunity, we think.”
How Taco Bell’s chicken nuggets can compare to the established acts of McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King and other popular chains will be interesting to see play out.
Tace Bell launched a Vegan Nacho Cheese Sauce, in addition to five other items over the past month. The Nacho Sauce was previously tested in a few markets to rave reviews which qualified them for a seat on the menu, nationwide.
