Jack In The Box is ringing in the spooky season with the return of the Angry Monster Tacos starting September 25th, but this version has a twist, and look extremely similar to a Taco Bell item.
The difference with the Monster Tacos of two seasons past and the current line-up, is that these tacos are, angry and spicy. And red. This marks the first time for the Monster Taco spicy edition to hit the menu. The orginia Monster Tacos are also back as well.
However, one can’t help but notice the similarities between the Angry Monster Tacos, and Taco Bell’s popular Volcano Taco. In fact, they look as if they could almost be one and the same.

- One Angry Monster Taco order comes with two Angry Monster Tacos with red shells
Both versions contain shredded lettuce, American cheese, beef, and Taco sauce.
It’s hard to say if Jack in The Box took a little inspiration from Taco Bell’s Volcano Tacos or straight up copied the idea. They do have some differences, mainly that Taco Bell uses cheddar cheese as opposed to American cheese.
The Volcano Tacos were introduced in 1995, and then discontinued years later. They came back in 2013 only to disappear…again.
Fans of the Volcano Menu were not happy with the chain’s decision, and petitions were made, letters were written. This past June they came back with the tag-line “that’s hot”, and Paris Hilton was tapped to promote their return. They only lasted about a month before disappearing again.
If you’re missing the Volcano Tacos, these Angry Monster Tacos might fill a void. They’re available until November 19th.
