The Colonel is testing the return of a most beloved, discontinued menu item – the original KFC Twister Wrap in Nashville, Tennessee. While a nationwide return hasn’t yet been announced, Nashville has been chosen as the testing ground to gauge customer response.

How is this different from the Kentucky Fried Chicken Wrap, the revamped version of the Twister? Details are very slim at this point in the game, and it’s kind of confusing considering KFC has been releasing a couple versions of the Kentucky Fried Chicken Wrap over the past year or so. From what we gather, this particular Twister would align more closely with the original wrap from years ago, which was discontinued in 2014.

The major difference between the new and the old? Apparently the creamy pepper sauce used in the wraps of yore.

As it stands, the revamped Twister AKA the Kentucky Fried Chicken Wraps just haven’t hit like their original counterpart did. And it can’t just be all in the name. Maybe KFC took notice of this, and are now looking to right a wrong?

OG Twister Wrap?

The Twister typically featured tender pieces of KFC’s signature fried chicken, wrapped with crisp lettuce, tomatoes, and a creamy sauce in a soft tortilla.

It’s enjoyed brief stints on menus throughout the years, and is even still available in it’s original form in international markets. But, in the US the classic Twister has been highly anticipated by fans since they first took the Twister off the menu.

Here’s what we know so far:

  • Limited Test: The Twister Wrap is currently only available at participating KFC locations in the Nashville area.
  • No Official Word on Wider Release: There’s no official confirmation from KFC about a nationwide rollout – yet.
  • Time to Get Wrapping: If you’re in Nashville and craving a taste of nostalgia, or simply curious about this menu item, head to your nearest KFC and see if they’re offering the Twister Wrap.

Interestingly enough, KFC’s major competitor Popeye’s, is testing a new item also…in Nashville. The Signature Hot Crispy Chicken Sandwich was just announced to be testing the waters before contemplating a nationwide rollout. What’s with Nashville getting to have all the fun, aye?

Will the Twister Wrap make it’s way back onto menus in the near future? Hopefully this is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. For now, Nashville residents can enjoy this potential comeback. So, if you’re local to the testing area, grab a Twister Wrap and share your thoughts with us – you might just influence KFC’s decision!
