KFC is cranking up the heat (and flavor) with the launch of their new Saucy Nuggets, available nationwide starting April 1st. This isn’t just your average chicken nugget dip situation. KFC is going all-in, offering five distinct flavors to tantalize taste buds and compete with the ever-growing selection of nuggets offered by other fast-food chains.
If you’ve been following along with the news, Wendy’s has also been testing Saucy Nuggets in Ohio. This is where it gets weird – it has the same name as KFC’s new item, the promotional picture looks very similar, and there’s 5 saucy flavors from both chains.
It almost looks as if KFC picked up the Saucy Nuggets instead of Wendy’s. If Wendy’s doesn’t drop their version nationwide, this one will really be a headscratcher.

What Are Saucy Nuggets?
The Saucy Nuggets come in a variety of options with three brand new sauces joining the party:

For a finger lickin’ good price of $5.99, you can snag a 10-piece order of Saucy Nuggets coated in your choice of flavor. To incentivize trying these new offerings, KFC is also offering a free 10-piece order with any purchase of $10 or more on their app or website.
The fast-food industry is a battleground for nugget supremacy, with chains constantly testing new flavors and dipping sauces. Maybe that’s what we’re seeing with Wendy’s Saucy Nuggets, a similar idea captured but by two chains at around the same time. A most synchronicitous event!
If KFC’s Saucy Nuggets are a strategic move to capture a larger share of the nugget market, they better hold their weight with Taco Bell also launching their chicken nuggets and a whole slew off options available from other chains. Whether these new flavors will dethrone the reigning nugget champions remains to be seen but they definitely look interesting.
