Wendys has a new item up their sleeve which has just been confirmed to be in the testing stage. They’re called Saucy Nuggets, and they come in four different saucy varieties.
Last week, an employee leaked information about the upcoming Saucy Nuggets on the Wendy’s subreddit. The user posted an accompanying picture of four bottles of sauce; Buffalo, Ghost Pepper, Honey BBQ, and Garlic Parmesan, and noted that the had to do with an upcoming new nugget. The details were sparse as they knew the Saucy Nuggets were coming in the not so distant future, but not much beyond that.
Well, a food-oriented, breaking news Instagram account named The Snackolator just confirmed that Saucy Nuggets are indeed being tested in select locations in the Columbus, Ohio market before consideration of a nationwide release.
What are Saucy Nuggets?
Wendy’s currently has Spicy Nuggets, and regular chicken nuggets on the menu but these new so-called Saucy Nuggets will be different in that they will come doused in one of four sauces as mentioned above. A sort of glaze if you will. Presumably, the nuggets will be coated with one of the four sauces, and then served with more sauce for dipping.
There’s no information on a price point or how many pieces of nuggets will be sold in one serving…yet.
The chain also released an item modeled after chicken and waffles called Chicken Strips & French Toast Sticks in Canada but hasn’t launched anything in a while in the US besides a new Frosty flavor.
The chain is due for a new menu item in the states, especially with other fast food chains releasing new items for the holidays, and Taco Bell testing chicken nuggets of their own. It looks like the Saucy Nuggets just might be Wendy’s answer to the competition…
