Taco Bell, the fast-food giant known for pushing boundaries and reimagining Mexican-inspired flavors, is back at it again. This time, they’re testing a brand new menu item, the Enchilada Dipping Taco in Milwaukee, WI at select locations.

The new taco will go through a period of testing to gauge interest before a nationwide release. The Enchilada Dipping Taco was teased during a Taco Bell event on Super Bowl Sunday…along with a bevy of other concoctions set to be launched in 2024.

What is the Enchilada Dipping Taco?

The new taco starts with a fried white corn tortilla shell that gets dipped, with an exterior layer of a 3-cheese blend for a satisfying crunch effect. The inside contains a choice of either slow-roasted chicken or steak, followed up with more of that 3-cheese blend, and creamy jalapeno sauce. As the name suggests, the taco comes paired with a red enchilada dipping sauce blended with more of that 3-cheese blend, and reduced-fat sour cream.

The price for one Enchilada Dipping Taco is being tested at $3.49.

This isn’t the first time Taco Bell has experimented with dipping tacos. Their recent Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco, re-launched in 2023, proved popular with its unique cheesy shell and flavor combinations. Could the Enchilada Dipping Taco follow suit?

Here are some key questions surrounding this culinary adventure:

  • Is this a permanent menu addition, or just a limited-time test?
  • How long will testing last before a nationwide launch?
  • Is the dipping sauce totally new to Taco Bell?

Taco Bell recently hosted the event Live Mas Live in Las Vegas last Sunday where they revealed upcoming plans, and new menu items coming down the pipeline for 2024 including a Baja Blast Pie, and a Cheez-it Crunchwrap.

There’s also word on the street that the chain will be changing the look of their sauce packets, and adding a totally new sauce as well, Avocado Verde Salsa. Keep on the lookout for info on these, and more!
