Taco Bell is giving fans a major dose of nostalgia with the launch of a limited-time “Nostalgic Menu.” In a very Back To The Future move, the fast-food chain is bringing back five beloved items from its past, catering to the cravings of customers who long for the discontinued menu items of bygone days.
Right now, the menu, is currently being tested in select Southern California locations. It features a lineup of classic favorites that have captured the hearts (and taste buds) of Taco Bell enthusiasts over their 62 year history. The best news is that Taco Bell is hinting at a potential nationwide rollout later this year, in a move that would finally answer the call of giving many fans for a throwback menu.
Each item brought back would represent the decade it first debuted in:
The Nostalgic Menu includes:
- Tostada: A classic from the 1960s, featuring a crispy shell topped with refried beans, red sauce, lettuce, and cheese. The current price will be $2.19.
- Green Burrito: A 1970s staple packed with refried beans, onions, cheddar cheese, and a spicy green sauce. The current price will be $2.49.
- Meximelt: A cheesy, melty creation that was a popular choice in the 1980s. The current price will be $2.99.
- Beef Gordita Supreme: A hearty and satisfying option from the 1990s. The current price will be $2.99.
- Caramel Apple Empanada: A sweet and crispy dessert from the 2000s. The current price will be $2.99.
Chief marketing officer Taylor Montgomery said in a statement: “Thanks to our rich history, we have a vault of craveable products our fans have become passionate about and we continuously explore ways to reintroduce the ones that deliver on the comfort and value they are looking for. Now we’re thrilled to unite two groups of fans: those who fondly remember these menu items and those who have yet to experience the delight of a Caramel Apple Empanada or savor their first bite of a Meximelt with this menu.”
The following locations will be testing the Nostalgic Menu:
Fullerton, California (131 E Orangethorpe Avenue) from Thursday, August 15, through Monday, August 19.
From Thursday, August 15, through Wednesday, August 21, it will be served at the Taco Bells located in Irvine (2222 Barranca Parkway).
Brea (303 West Imperial Highway).
