The polling firm YouGov has released the results of their yearly, most popular fast food restaurants, and where they rank with consumers in the United States.
The chains were rated on whether the respondents had a positive perception to each chain using “popularity scores” and the brands ranked were restricted to only fast food chains, and fast casual restaurants. The entire list includes 272 restaurants, ranked but we’re only interested in the top 50.
Most Popular Fast Food Chains
Baskin Robbins took first place with a 75% popularity score, and 98% fame among customers. To compare, Burger King at rank number 32, had a 57% popularity score. Another interesting note is that out of the top 5 spots, 4 of those slots are dessert-based chains.
The top 10 is as follows:

- 3. Wendy’s
- 4. Cinnabon
- 5. Krispy Kreme
- 6. Taco Bell
- 7. KFC
- 8. Subway
- 9. Dunkin’ Donuts
- 10. McDonald’s
Some surprising rankings from the entire list of the 50 most popular fast food chains include; 16. McDonald’s, 32. Burger King, 22. Arby’s, 23. Chick-Fil-A, 57. Jack In The Box, and 29. Popeye’s.
The results vary wildly from other studies, and polls taken over the course of the past year or so with one huge study done by the research company, Market Forceb which listed Chick-Fil-A and In-N-Out as the two brands to top the charts for customer satisfaction in the following areas; cleanliness, speed, value, loyalty, quality, and service.
In fact, Chick-fil-A, usually comes out on top every time. In October, the chain was chosen as America’s chain for most customer satisfaction (ACSI index) so it’s interesting that YouGov’s poll finds Baskin Robbins to be the most popular fast food chain as Baskin didn’t make the top 15…
