Wingstop’s foray into the world of chicken sandwiches didn’t last long. And it wasn’t because no one wanted them.

The chain sold out of their chicken sandwiches shortly after their debut, which forced them to remove the sandwiches from the menu entirely to regroup.

It was only common sense that Wingstop would dip their wings into the chicken sandwich game in an attempt to cash in on the craze that had been capturing the nation.

Wingstop took it to another level by offering 12 different kinds of chicken sandwich flavors to choose from:

12 flavors of sandwich

Lemon Pepper, Hickory Smoked BBQ, Mild, Louisiana Rub, Hawaiian, Garlic Parmesan, Spicy Korean Q, Original Hot, Cajun, Mango Habanero, Atomic and Plain.

Once Wingstop made the roll-out of the assortment of sandwiches – they sold over 1,000,000 of them inside of a week.

The demand overwhelmed staff and the chain blasted through the bevy of ingredients needed to assemble the sandwiches; to the point that needed to remove the new addition from the menu to reassess how they could feasibly keep up with orders.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been hard at work with our supplier partners scaling the level of supply needed to meet the incredible demand for this product,” wrote Wingstop in a press release sent to The Takeout.

After a hiatus of brainstorming and working with suppliers on a grander scale – Wingstop believes that they have plugged all the holes in the ship and are ready to set sail once again on the chicken sandwich, ship of dreams.

The chain says that sandwiches will be available starting this week, once again – at select participating locations.

Although upon further investigation, the ‘select’ locations and exact date of return…cannot readily be found.

Only time will tell if Wingstop has what it takes to stay in the chicken sandwich game and cluck with the best of them.
