A standoff between a woman and an employee in the McDonald’s drive-thru started over two apple pies, prompting an outcry on TikTok.
A woman who goes by the moniker, Tea C West (teacwest), chronicled her dramatic encounter on social media.
In the video, she told about her plight with McDonald’s staff and how they shafted her of $0.73 when the apple pies she ordered were out of stock.
According to Tea C West, she had stopped at a McDonald’s drive-thru and ordered one Big Mac and two apple pies but at the second drive-thru window, she was informed that the apple pies were not available.
When West was asked if she would like to replace the pies with another item, she declined.
From here it takes a semi-confusing turn. West noted that the employee at the window seemed ‘panicked’ and disappeared, “like she knew something was coming“.
In actuality, the employee returned with the manager in tow because she needed assistance with the apple pie fiasco. When West suggested to them that they just refund her the money for the two pies, she continued to wait at the window for five minutes.
The manager came back again and handed West a refund receipt and change, closing the window quickly in a huff. In the video, West says that she wasn’t even offered an apology for the ordeal.
West then counted the money and became irate when the total incorrectly, added up to $1.78. The total for the two apple pies should have come to $2.38.
West said that she refused to leave the window, telling the manager she was due a full refund.
‘She’s like ‘I can’t do that.’ I said, ‘well you have to do something because I’m not pulling off until you give me all of my money for the refund,’” West says in the video.
She claimed the manager then became ‘rowdy’, and clapped her hands at her, asking West to come back tomorrow if she had a problem. Tea C most certainly did have one.
“You’re not gonna take my money and just think it’s cool,” she says.
By this point, customers and employees were taking notice of the dicey situation, and “some random employee” stepped up, giving her $8.68…much more than the price of the two apple pies she was owed.
However, in West’s world that amount still did not equal what she was due – which in her mind, had now climbed to $11.20.
It seems that she may have leveled up, wanting back the full price of her order.
Employees had then tried their hand at asking Tea C West to move her car from the ever growing line, which she still refused. She said she wouldn’t budge until she had back the entire amount of her order.
The manager asked for the food and receipt back, to which Tea C obliged.
That same, “some random employee” came back for a second time to give her the remaining $2.38 from his own pocket to put the unresolved matter to rest.
But, he didn’t have the full $2.38 so other employees had to chip in.
Viewers on TikTok were divided over the matter, while many supported her decision stating it was the principle of the matter – dissenters held issue with her making a scene over such a paltry sum.
“I don’t get it why did she refund you the 8.00 when you only wanted the money back for your apple pies something not adding up in this story.”
“Everyone saying “all of that for a dollar” ask yourself how McD would act if you tried to short them $1,” someone else wrote.
Though the employees eventually did make it right, she still took to Tik Tok to sully the staff at McDonald’s and report “the hell out of this managers behavior” in a video that has now amassed almost – 700,000 views.
