Arby’s is taking another ‘shot’ at the liquor game. They just made the announcement via Twitter that they’re launching, Smoked Bourbon and that it will be “Smoked with the same woods used for Arby’s smoked meats.”

Arby’s has already dipped it’s meats into the liquor game with vodka last year but this time they will be partnering with the Ohio-based distillery, Brain Brew to bring their bourbon to life.

It looks like Arby’s is in good hands as the distillery has received accolades at the North American Bourbon and Whiskey Competition, winning medals for their accomplishments.

The Bourbon was dreamed up to complement their Real Country Style Rib Sandwich and Brisket Sandwich that also goes hand in hand with the country-style, cowboy theme that they’ve been shooting for.

After our successful vodka launch last year, we knew we wanted to release another unexpected liquor that our fans of legal drinking age can responsibly pair with our menu items,” Arby’s President Jim Taylor said in a statement.

It will be made available on October 19th but only by ordering online from one of these participating states: California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, New Hampshire, New York and Washington, DC.

We were thrilled to partner with Arby’s to craft Arby’s Smoked Bourbon,” Brain Brew CEO and co-founder Doug Hall said in a statement. “We take pride in the hours of research, detail and innovation that goes into creating custom bottles of bourbon for our collaboration partners as well as consumers and enjoyed recreating one of Arby’s signature flavor profiles using the same smoked woods that they use at Sadler’s Smokehouse.”

The fanfare on Twitter was a mixed cacophony of many off-topic sentiments. It seems that with every tweet Arby’s makes, comes a bevy of people demanding answers about their discontinued, potato cakes.

Another bottle of alcohol to try and win over new fans, all the while still alienating those former longtime loyal fans who only want to know what the status is of Potato Cakes. It’s like @Arby‘s is trying to ruin their brand.

If Arby’s can get the potato cake mess ironed out, they may see a more positive reaction to future announcements.

If you’re interested in seeing what the Smoked Bourbon is all about, Arby’s says that there will be two “drops” though only the first one has been announced.

They stated that the first round of liquor dropping is likely to ‘sell out quickly’ but we won’t know until the day actually comes and passes. If you want to wait for the second drop, keep checking in on Arby’s site to see what the status is and if it will be released availability-wise to more states.
