Arby’s is bringing a new pair of sandwiches onto the scene that center on a spicy and sweet medley of contrasting flavors to create an ‘opposites attract’ theme.
QSR has the press release that announced the news on the new King’s Hawaiian Sandwiches that are available in crispy chicken, and beef n’ brisket versions. Hitting the menu at the same time will also be Loaded Fries embedded in a cheddar cheese and sweet and spicy sauce.
All three menu items are available now, for a limited time.
The press releases notes that, “Arby’s launched the deliciously spicy Diablo Dare sandwiches and fries last year, and we wanted to build on that success with new menu items that offer a more complex taste by combining two contrasting yet complementing flavors.”
Arby’s has dabbled with a King’s Hawaiian partnership in the past with the likes of the Luau Chicken Sandwich and a trio of Sliders featuring the sweet, soft buns. This time around, a complexity of flavors offer a different approach with both sweet and heat elements thrown into the mix.

The Sweet Heat Menu Includes:
King’s Hawaiian Sweet Heat Chicken Sandwich:
A sweet Kings Hawaiian bun sets the stage for a crispy chicken fillet, layered up with cheddar cheese, sweet garlic & dill pickles, lettuce, tomato, and crispy onions. A sweet and spicy sauce tops it off to set the theme. The price-point starts at $7.19 for just the sandwich.
King’s Hawaiian Sweet Heat Beef n’ Brisket Sandwich:
This version of the ‘Sweet Heat’ sandwich features an interplay between two meats; a 13-hour smoked brisket and thin slices of roast beef. The same stage is set with a sweet Kings Hawaiian bun and layers of cheddar cheese, sweet garlic and dill pickles, lettuce, tomato, crispy onions and a sweet and spicy sauce. The sandwich starts at $7.99
Loaded Fries:
Crinkle cut fries doused with cheese sauce, sliced bacon, chopped chicken nuggets and spicy, sweet sauce.
Patel, CMO of Arby’s, said in the press release, “The interplay of sweet and spicy and soft and crunchy in our King’s Hawaiian Heat Sandwiches and Loaded Fries offers fans a harmony of flavors and textures in every bite, proving that opposites really do attract.“
The Sweet Heat sandwiches are the follow up to the success of the Diablo Dare sandwiches that Arby’s released last year. They achieved popularity on social media when patrons accepted the ‘dare’ and filmed their sandwich consumption to showcase their reactions (or non-reactions) to the heat.
The King’s Hawaiian Sandwiches aren’t claiming to be anything other than delicious this time around – as Arby’s says…they offer, “just a little bit of heat.”
