The word on the street is that Chick-fil-A is testing out a brand new menu item: Nugget Pizza.
Of course, they’re not ditching their famous chicken sandwiches anytime soon, but it looks like they’re dipping their toes into a new niche. This creation is being tested, and available at the chains test kitchen “Little Blue Menu” location in College Park, Maryland.
Stuart Tracy, senior culinary lead developer, said in a statement: “As an innovation kitchen brand, we are constantly looking at what our customers want to better serve them. We’ve noticed our customers getting creative with Chick-fil-A ingredients on pizzas at home, so, we’ve decided to jump on board! Your taste buds already know the flavors, so it’s love before first bite.”
Chick-Fil-A Pizza?
Chick-Fil-A posted to Instagram introducing 6 Pizza creations, and there’s even talk of a calzone. They said:
“Happy Pi(e) Day, College Park. We’re solving the equation by taking all the flavors you love and turning them into delicious 11-inch pizza pies.”
What kind of pizza are they serving up? One pie is topped with their signature chopped chicken nuggets, pickles, and then drizzled with Chick-fil-A sauce. They also have more traditional options like pepperoni and sausage, along with – a pepperoni calzone.
- Chick-fil-A Pizza Pie: Mozzarella cheese with Chick-fil-A Nuggets, Chick-fil-A Sauce, served with pickles.
- Buff-lo-Ranch Pizza Pie: Mozzarella cheese topped with Chick-fil-A Nuggets, buffalo sauce, house-made ranch dressing, and zesty lemon pepper seasoning.
- Cheese Pizza Pie: Signature tomato sauce with mozzarella cheese.
- Pepperoni Pizza Pie: Mozzarella Cheese topped with pepperoni.
- Meats-n-Veg Pizza Pie: Mozzarella cheese topped with an assortment of meat, including; pepperoni, sausage, chorizo, meatballs, mushrooms, and red peppers.
According to Chick-fil-A, customers have been getting creative at home with Chick-fil-A ingredients on pizzas, so the chain decided to take the plunge themselves, experimenting at the Little Blue Kitchen.
There’s no word yet on if (or when) this pizza party will spread to other locations. As this is just a test run, there’s no guarantee it’ll become a permanent menu item.
The last time Chick-Fil-A made a major addition to their menu was last summer when they launched the Honey Pimento Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich was tested exclusively in Asheville NC, in 2020, and it took the chain’s experimentation with over 30 different sandwich varieties before they aced the Honey Pimento.
When Chick-Fil-A announced the new chicken sandwich, customers went bonkers, and stormed the chain the day it dropped.
Chick-fil-A may seem slightly afraid to add new items to their limited, tried-and-true permanent menu, but that just means, they’re focusing on adding quality. No duds allowed!
