Rapper, Chris Brown, owes a hefty sum to Popeyes…to the tune of over $2 million dollars.
Record-Producer, and singer-songwriter, The-Dream, whose worked with Beyonce, was also named in the lawsuit as a borrower of the funds.
In 2018, Chris Brown’s Popeyes journey began when he and a few constituents sought a loan to buy two locations. It’s not clear if they ever actually bought these locations, or what ended up happening to the money but the bank eventually called foul.
City National Bank, loaned Brown the $2.1 million in loans from 2018 and ended up filing a lawsuit in Georgia, which saw the judge ruling in the banks favor.
City National Bank also filed a suit in Los Angeles where Brown is currently residing so they stand a chance on collecting on the unpaid debt.
The lawsuit states that: “As of February 17, 2023, Borrower and Guarantors owe $2,140,901.74 in unpaid principal and interest.”
Brown reportedly owes more than $4 million in back taxes, and was hit with multiple liens this past January, including a federal tax lein for over $2.2 million.
And last but not least, he has a $71 million lawsuit that was born from a dog attack involving his housekeepers at the time. The court date for that fiasco is scheduled for December.
Usually it’s the fast food chains that have the lawsuit’s filed against them, this time it’s the chain doing the filing.
