According to a Tweet posted by Mr Beast, Mr Beast Burger may be packing it up and heading home.
The since-deleted tweet said that he was “moving on” from the virtual restaurant, Mr Beast Burger and that “it had become impossible to guarantee the quality of the brand across the over 2,000 restaurants that are selling it.” He continued that he wanted to focus his attention on his chocolate brand, Feastables.
Just this past September, Mr Beast Burger founder AKA, Jimmy Donaldson celebrated opening the first physical location opening in NJ, breaking the record for number of burgers sold in one day in the process.
The burger brand is a virtual only restaurant who’s model relies on a delivery-only concept. Mr Beast Burger is the progenitor of the trend of “pop-up or virtual kitchens” where local restaurants sell and make the offerings of the restaurant which mostly exists via app.
In another deleted Tweet, Donaldson referenced his relationship with his partnered brand Virtual Dining Concepts, “but the company I partnered with won’t let me stop even though it’s terrible for my brand. Young Beast signed a bad deal.”
So Mr Beast wants out…but he’s locked into a bum deal where he can’t control what’s going on with his brand. Complaints have stacked up against the virtual burger chain because customers felt misled into thinking it was a physical location instead of say, Applebee’s, one of the restaurants actually responsible for preparing their orders.
The issues are mounting and Donaldson wants out but it looks like he’s locked into a situation against his better judgment, and will. As for now he says “making snacks is awesome and something I’m way more passionate about” in reference to Feastables.
