Two men with every bit the cunning prowess of characters in say, a movie like, “The Italian Job” – took engaging in a heist to the next level.
After stealing a large screen TV, and trying to jam it into their car (of which it fell out as soon as they drove away) – the two decided they would stop for a bite to eat at Taco Bell…which was 50 feet away from the scene of the crime.
The scenario could have been for a scene in a movie filming on location. Maybe a new buddy duo comedy along the vein of “Dumb And Dumber or “Stepbrothers”?
Only no one else knew about it. Or perhaps reality is sometimes that much more ridiculous than the plot of a movie.
When brothers, Miguel Shane Waddell, 23, and Ramone Javonie Carl Waddell, 21, were approached by officers at Taco Bell – they alleged that they went to Walmart to return the 75″ TV in question. They even showed officers a receipt from the location and denied that they were in the business of stealing.
Loss prevention told police that the pair was observed leaving the store with the TV and when employees asked to see the receipt, they replied that they were returning it.
To give their cover story some legitimacy and to demonstrate their cunning abilities, they walked towards customer service.
Once the two felt like enough time had passed, they made for the exit again. This time they took the TV, valued at $796, out of the store and in a not so very discreet manner or slick approach to “heisting” tried shoving the TV into their SUV, yelling at one another “Go go go go”.
In their frenzy, both neglected to close the back trunk to the SUV and as they pulled away, the TV fell out…immediately to it’s doom.
The men must’ve decided that things had went off without a hitch at this point, because they didn’t go very far at all. As soon as they set off on their getaway, they stopped.
Right next door at Taco Bell.
Police officers found their SUV at Taco Bell and questioned the brothers. They searched their vehicle and found an additional stolen TV.
The pair’s great escape to Taco Bell for a victory meal ended with their capture.
For their efforts, they were both charged with grand theft and transported to the Indian River County Jail, where their bond was set at $5,000 each (Via: Sebastiandaily.com).
