Taco Bell recently let fans decide which retired item would be coming back. The voting has ended and a total of over 760K votes were cast since September 27th.

The two choices for fast food rebirth, were the Double Decker Taco and the Enchirito.

The Enchirito was voted back on the menu receiving 62% of the votes in this battle of retired ‘artifacts”.

The return of the Enchirito has many excited although it hasn’t even been off the menu for very long being that it was only retired in 2019.

The saucy enchilada-esque staple had originally been introduced in 1970 and had been on and off the menu for over 35 years until becoming a permanent mainstay in 2006.

Last month, fans were given about 10 days to cast their vote through Taco Bell’s app, in a move that has never been done before by any fast food chain.

The voting ended on October 6th.

Taco Bell keeps a steady pulse on its fans’ cravings… and is thrilled that so many of its Rewards members felt empowered by this program!” a Taco Bell representative told The Takeout via email

It’s bittersweet victory for lovers of the Enchrito as it will only be available on the menu for a very limited time starting November 17th, and ending on the 30th.

Hardly enough time for die-hards to get reacquainted.

With the success of the promotion to bring back a retired favorite, it’s almost certain that Taco Bell will take to the app again in a similar move in the future.

Start putting in your nominations now if you have a bygone staple you would like to resurrect.
