McDonalds and Krispy Kreme are in discussion to further expand their partnership outside of the current limited test market in Kentucky. The two heavyweights have been testing the offering of Krispy Kreme donuts at select McDonald’s locations since 2022.
Now the two chains are discussing continuing an expansion of their partnership to include more McDonalds locations outside of Kentucky.
The partnership between the two started over a year ago in the Fall of 2022, and testing has been commencing in the Kentucky market ever since. They added almost 200 locations last March to further expand testing, and they must be getting positive feedback because things are only heating up.
Krispy Kreme’s CEO Josh Charlesworth said in a statement that: “While nothing has been finalized, we are excited about our continued partnership with McDonald’s, and we are in advanced discussions about expanding the relationship.”

The Krispy Kreme donuts are being offered at McDonalds as either individual donuts or in a prepackaged box. They can be ordered at the restaurant or through delivery but only in Kentucky right now. The two chains are mum on how far this next expansion could go…and whether they’ll take it nationwide or be opening up to a few more states for the time being.
Both brands hope to be able to capture a bigger piece of the breakfast segment by teaming up and putting donuts on McDonald’s menu. The idea being that customers buying coffee will add a Krispy Kreme donut to their order.
The CEO continued: “We’ve seen that both the loose doughnuts and the pre-packed doughnuts are well received.”
The team-up between McDonald’s and Krispy Kreme stands to be legendary…if they can get the ball rolling beyond Kentucky.
