Jack In The Box is testing their own version of the classic dish Chicken & Waffles. Jack’s announced the news recently in a press release but was sparse on details.
The chain is testing the breakfast-slanted dish at a limited market in Bakersfield, CA for the time being, and depending on how customers respond to the new item…will be releasing the Chicken & Waffles nationwide if it receives positive feedback.
The chains version of Chicken & Waffles consists of two regular Crispy-Fried Chicken Strips, and three waffles in the form of handheld sticks. The dish comes with two dipping sauces, one ranch and one syrup on the side. One 3-piece order of Waffle Stick can be had for $2.50 while one serving of both Waffle Sticks, and Chicken Strips can be had for the suggested price of $6.49.
Wendy’s Canada made a similar move in November but replaced waffles for French toast sticks in the Chicken Strips and French Toast Strips two-in-one dish. It featured two French toast sticks, and three all-white meat chicken fingers with a side of syrup.
Hayley Kianoff, Manager, for Wendy’s International Culinary Innovation said on the new item:
“Seeing our fans’ response after discovering this newest sweet and savoury flavour combination, we knew we had served up this fresh take on the classic chicken and waffles.”
Mike’s Hot Honey, a brand located in California partnered with Jack In The Box on Mike’s Hot Honey Chicken Waffle Biscuit sandwich. It has a “warm waffle biscuit with a hint of maple. A freshly cracked egg, melty American cheese, 100% all-white meat chicken crisp chicken strip, and a drizzle of Mike’s Hot Honey”. It was only available at 32 locations in California, and a handful in South Carolina.
Jack In The Box also has mini pancakes on the menu, so the testing dish would fit nicely along with the current line-up.
