KFC debuted a new menu item this week, Hot & Spicy Wings for a limited-time. The chain is firing up the competition by offering the wings for only $4.99.
Competitor, Popeye’s also came out with a Sweet & Spicy Wing menu drop, and the chain’s will be duking it out with each other vying for superior wing status.
Its been a while since KFC has had spicy Wings on the menu, not since 1990, and then they were named simply Hot Wings.
The Hot Wings were a success, selling out but the chain discontinued them for unknown reasons.
Hot & Spicy Wings
The Wings are slated to be the perfect complement to the start of the football season. Just ask Deion Sanders who stars in a commercial for the new wings, below.
The spicy-marinated, double hand-breaded wings uses KFC’s Extra Crispy breading for a base of staggering crunch.

Sanders teamed up with KFC months ago to represent the chain as a spokesperson. And has since appeared in numerous commercials alongside his family.
A press release about the menu addition says: “We’re coming in HOT (and spicy) this football season with a truly unmatched deal,” said Nick Chavez, CMO, KFC U.S. “Bench the other players. Why get 6 wings for $5.99 when you can start our 8 pc. Hot & Spicy Wings instead for just $4.99?”
Additionally, KFC has partnered with the streaming services Twitch, and Amazon Prime to unveil football-related content over the course of the season starting September 14th.
Pro quarterback, Kirk Cousins and sports journalist Taylor Rooks will be featured as special guests in the content.
