It might be hard to believe but KFC has never had a traditional nugget grace their menu before.
Sure, they have danced all around nugget territory with staples like Popcorn Chicken and Chicken Tenders, but they’ve always stayed either one size up or one size down from a standard chicken nugget.
Now the Colonel’s trying his hand at his secret recipe chicken nuggets starting March 27th after a successful test run in limited markets. According to KFC’s press release, they will become a permanent fixture on the menu
The chicken nuggets are being touted as ‘hand-breaded’, made with the Original Recipe of 11 herbs and spices, and using white meat chicken.
In addition to the Kentucky Fried Nuggets, will be a Mac-and-Cheese bowl that features the nuggets in either a spicy or original fashion.
KFC must be super confident in their nugget quality because they’re talking a big game ahead of their official release and calling out the ‘subpar’ chicken nuggets offered at other franchises.
“People have been living in a nugget ‘blandemic’ and settling for the same mediocre nuggets for far too long. The fried chicken experts are empowering America to break up with bland and end it with cookie-cutter shapes and open their hearts and mouths to Kentucky Fried Chicken Nuggets,” KFC said in a news release.
Several serving sizes will be available including the smallest, a 5-piece serving of Kentucky Fried Nuggets that will cost $3.49. Other sizes include 8,12, and 36 counts at a higher price.
