Wendy’s Baconator is getting a makeover, and a new bun. Starting November 20th (unofficially), the chain will be launching the Pretzel Baconator for a limited time nationwide. November 27th is the scheduled official announcement.
The Baconator has been a staple burger at Wendy’s since it first came on the scene in 2007. Over the course of time, it has largely not been messed with. There have been similar burgers such as the Pretzel Bacon Burger which take elements from the Baconator and combines them with a Pretzel bun. The Pretzel bun has been used on a few sandwiches, and now it’s officially being implemented into the Baconator.

The Pretzel Baconator has two beef patties, applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, topped with mayo, and ketchup. The pretzel bun holds everything together for a combination years in the making.
There’s no word yet on what the Pretzel Baconator will cost as it’s too soon to tell without the official announcement.
Last week, Wendy’s had a bit of bad news when a major franchisee filed for bankruptcy. Starboard Group LLC ended up closing 73 Wendy’s locations in addition to 15 Subway locations. They operated in seven states, and had an estimated annual loss of $1.5-2 million annually. Hopefully this isn’t a sign of thing to come for the chain.
Perhaps Wendy’s will lay into new sandwich offerings, and sides like other chains have been recently. The Pretzel Baconator might be just the start to kick things off…
