KFC is quietly testing an all-new menu item, a bowl in fact, called the Smash’d Potato Bowl. If you’re in the Pittsburgh, PA area, you’re in the right market if anything ‘potato’ is up your alley.
The new bowl is testing as the possible newest addition of KFC’s Famous Bowls. It’s only available in Pittsburgh right now as the test market of choice, and depending on if customers in the area eat it up or not…the trial run will determine if it hits menus nationwide.
What’s in the Smash’d Potato Bowl?

The Smash’d Potato Bowl is centered around comfort with several elements coming together for a double-potato base. It includes, mashed potatoes, KFC’s secret recipe fries, crispy bacon crumbles, a warm cheese sauce, AND a three-cheese blend.
The price-point is not too shabby either, and reported to be at $3.49.
KFC just came out with Spicy Wings to ring in the football season. Coincidentally, so did Popeyes. The competition has been heating up between the two chains with each trying to one-up the other in multiple departments but namely, the chicken sandwich game.
So it will be interesting to see if Popeyes also puts out a potato-centered dish.
If the Smash’d Potato Bowl is received with acclaim, keep on the look out at KFC’s menus near you.
