A story that has gone viral on TikTok involving Aleeza, a woman employed at McDonald’s – has amassed over 149.8K views and 37K likes. In the video, Aleeza recounts being pelted by pennies for informing a customer that his $50 bill was counterfeit.
Aleeza @aleezalowery got understandably worked up when she was disrespected by a customer while manning the drive-thru at McDonald’s.
After the incident, she gave a “public service announcement”, describing not only how unruly the customer was, but how he slung disparaging remarks towards her for working there.
Once Aleeza identified that the $50 bill a customer had given to her was counterfeit, the man immediately became unruly.
“I did the money marker. I could see the yellow line. It’s fake. Yes sir”, explained Aleeza in the Tik Tok video. “Dude, started throwing pennies at me”.
The angry customer was beyond the point of repair, wanting only retribution for the denial of his fake bill. He lashed out, talking to her as if she were beneath him.
“Don’t forget you work at McDonalds”.
“So what? What’s that supposed to mean” She asked viewers in her video.
Every commenter was outraged by the remark, coming to Aleeza’s defense…
Nicole Harbor said: “you should’ve told him “at least I got real money ” 😂”
And TikToker, Jeff: “I refuse to be friends with people who use working at McDonald’s as an example of “failure”. It’s work and hard work dealing with so many people.”
With the fast food industry becoming increasingly hostile for workers, and the added bonus of constant Social Media vlogging, and vloggers prowling around with ramshackle pranks trying to up the ante for views…workers are constantly on the look-out for bad behavior.
But when a customer gets ‘hangry’ over an order gone wrong…the transformation into a Hulk-ish demeanor happens quick, any pretense of common decency dropping quicker than the drop of a hat.
And the stakes are only getting higher with fast food employees facing actual threats. Statistics acquired by The Daily Dot, say that the odds an employee will face an assault while on the job are high, with 1 in 8 workers reporting an incident every year.
A scenario where the customer degenerates into penny pelting would hopefully be the exception and not the rule, but nowadays these fast food restaurants are increasingly turning into battlegrounds. With fries and cheese becoming the catalyst for war.
