McDonalds is coming out with a new burger, sans the…burger called the McSalad Burger.

McDonald’s is adding the new creation to menu’s only in New Zealand at this time with no indication on if the brand will be taking it beyond the countries border.

As the name suggests, the McSalad Burger is styled after a…salad which means, that it’s a salad served on a bun without the meat, and the addition of the McChicken sauce.

Brand Eating reported:

“McDonald’s Salad Burger features tomato, shredded lettuce, slivered onions, American cheese, two pickles, and peppery McChicken sauce, on a toasted sesame seed bun.”

Similar to the McSalad, is the McDLT which was introduced in the 1980’s. The McDLT was served in a Styrofoam foam container and contained a partition to separate the meat patty from the lettuce and tomato so as to maintain the perfect container.

Burger King in New Zealand also apparently came out with a very similar burger as the new McSalad. The report continued: “Apparently, the Salad Burger is McDonald’s New Zealand’s answer to Burger King’s New Zealand’s burger of the same name.”

McDonald’s also recently announced a partnership expansion with Krispy Kreme to serve more donuts at locations outside of their current test market in Kentucky. Positive feedback from ongoing testing in the test market has opened up serious discussion between the two iconic brands to push forward into a possible nationwide move.
