A sneak peek of a new McDonald’s treat posted by the Instagram account The Snackolater broke the news earlier on the latest frozen dessert coming to McDonalds nationwide. Sources confirmed the validity of the rumor by contacting McDonald’s who responded with the date it’s dropping and full info on the new flavor.
The Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry isn’t a brand new creation per se since it has been available in Singapore and China for a while now. The Singapore version steps it up a notch by also containing ‘bits of Oreos’, so not a true and blue (or pink) strawberry shortcake.
The American version will be full-on shortcake sans Oreo bits and it’s slated availability will be April 12th around the country.
Today.com contacted McDonalds to confirm the rumor and got this reply:
McDonald’s new Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry features our signature creamy vanilla soft serve, strawberry-flavored clusters and crispy, buttery shortbread cookies,” a McDonald’s USA spokesperson tells TODAY.com in an email.
Twitter is awash with the news and many are commenting that they would love to try the new flavor – that is, if the ice cream machine is working. The running joke is that the ice cream machine is always down…without fail.
McDonald’s notes that the Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry will be around for a limited time and while supplies last. So basically, whenever they decide to pull the plug.
