McDonalds is bringing two new sauces to the scene starting October 9th. One is a sweet and spicy sauce, and the other is sweet, spicy, and vinegar-y.
The new sauces are called Mango and Spicy Jam.
In a statement released by McDonald’s, the chain said that the Spicy Jam Sauce is a “jammy red pepper sauce with a tongue-numbing Szechuan peppercorn kick and extra heat from cayenne pepper.”
This will mark the first time that McDonald’s has created a breakfast-dipping sauce. And a spicy breakfast dipping sauce at that.
“We get inspiration for the food our fans love by exploring the incredible tastes and flavors found in communities across the country,” said Tariq Hassan, Customer Experience Officer for McDonald’s US, in the release.
McDonalds currently has six dipping sauces to choose from:
- Hot Mustard
- Sweet N’ Sour
- Ranch
- Honey Mustard
- Spicy Buffalo
- Tangy BBQ
New Sauce Breakdown
- Mambo Sauce: “tomato-based sweet, spicy and vinegary sauce that’s inspired by a type of sauce that’s popular in Washington, DC.”
- Spicy Jam: Reportedly similar to a Pepper Jelly. With apple cider vinegar, Szechuan peppercorn and cayenne pepper.
McDonald’s is known for their popular sauces like the limited-edition Szechuan Sauce that was inspired by the movie Mulan, and had a resurgence in popularity due to the show Rick and Morty. Unfortunately the Szechuan only comes around as often as a solar eclipse.
Then there the Wasabi Mayo which notable mostly in the UK.
