Neil Cavuto, and guest, Scott D. Martin…a financial pundit – were discussing inflation on the Fox show “Cavuto Coast to Coast”.
The discussion revolved around inflation and how it has influenced the American economy.
Martin thought his own account of the pricey lunch that he had earlier would fit nicely into the conversation.
But it had a much different effect then he anticipated.
When Martin mentioned the price of his lunch at Taco Bell, the NY Post reported that viewers were in a tizzy over the cost of his meal for one.
“I had a nice lunch at Taco Bell, cost me about $28 at Taco Bell for lunch,” Martin mentioned.
Even Cavuto couldn’t believe it and asked for clarification, “You spent $28 at Taco Bell for just yourself?”
The quips and comments were rolling in on Twitter with people calculating what he might’ve ordered as one person that would equate to $28.
“I fed my family of 5 with 18$ at Taco Bell last week. We had leftovers too,” remarked one person.
The viral clip had everyone weighing in on the average amount they spend at Taco Bell and most couldn’t dream of spending that much on only themselves.
“I’m not taking financial advice from someone who spends Chipotle for 2 money at Taco Bell for 1,” said another.
“Clearly his attempt to realte to the poors backfired. I hit $30 ONLY when I am lazy and door dash + like 7-8$ tip.”
The mystery of what Scott Martin ordered remains undisclosed.
Some took his $28 lunch as a challenge and got to ordering. It was no surprise when some of them couldn’t match Martin’s $28 spree in one sitting because the value had simply gotten them too much food.
As Cavuto said, “That’s a lot of Chalupa’s”…about 9.3 if you order the chicken option.
