Popeye’s is bringing back a popular fried dessert for the holiday season, the Blueberry Lemon Cream Cheese Fried Pie.
The pie was first seen during it’s debut in 2015, and has made reappearances on and off the menu, ever since.
The flaky, fried pastry crust is joined by two flavors that marry exceptionally well, blueberry, and lemon cream cheese fillings which merge for a delicious dessert experience. The pie is reported as being priced at a reasonable $1.99 each.
Popeye’s is also known for their other pie flavors, notably the Cinnamon Apple Fried which is dipped in a cinnamon, and sugar blend. Strawberry Cream Cheese, Raspberry Cheesecake, and Oreo Cheesecake Cup are just some of the other pie flavor offered by the chain over the years.
McDonald’s did the same for the holidays, adding a pie to the menu, the Holiday Pie which will remain throughout the winter months. It features a custard filling with a buttery, flaky crust and notes of sugar and colorful sprinkles added to the outside pastry.
Popeye’s announced the addition of wings to their menu, and the intention to keep them on the menu, permanently. They’re available in five varieties, Sweet N’ Spicy, Honey BBQ, Roasted Garlic Parmesan, Signature Hot, and Ghost Pepper. The Sweet N’ Spicy, and Ghost Pepper are new, having been tested in a limited market, and then released in the past year to reviews. They had the second highest sales for Popeye’s behind their popular chicken sandwiches.
