Taco Bell is marrying two worlds to get one amazingly, refreshing treat that hasn’t been done before. Enter: the Baja Blast Gelato, something we didn’t know we needed until Taco Be announced it will be testing the dessert starting August 30th.
The caveat? Only one location currently has the goods…
Baja Blast Gelato Testing in CA
The Baja Blast is a popular Mountain Dew spin-off flavor that has been offered as a fountain drink at Taco Bell.
The enticingly, vivid, bright blue dessert, marks the first time that Taco Bell has entered the Gelato waters…and what better way to do it than with their super popular Baja Blast flavor?
The only location to offer it right now is, Irvine’s Campus Drive, California. The chain is testing the market for feedback on the icy, blue dessert before, presumably, taking it nationwide.
Mountain Dew says that the: “Baja Blast tastes like making out with a hot mermaid”.
The Baja Blast has a rabid fan-base dedicated to the beverage with a Facebook group, sites/fans selling unofficial merchandise, and the call for it to remain on the menu year-round.
“This is the first time we are releasing a gelato and we are so excited to hear how fans enjoy the sweet and creamy indulgence,” said Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s global chief food innovation officer, in a press release. “BAJA BLAST is iconic to Taco Bell and has its own strong fandom, so introducing it in gelato form feels right.”
Many on social media are upset that the Baja Blast Gelato won’t be nationwide for the time-being:
“One location? Why you doing us dirty, T Bell?”
This new Gelato just might top the list of desserts offered at a fast food chain…now if it can only be offered nationwide.
