Taco Bell has quietly discontinued five items from its menu, prompting disappointment among fans. After the launch of the Decades Menu and the addition of Crispy Chicken Nuggets, the chain removed five older items including the replacement of three with new ones previously only seen in test markets.
While Taco Bell hasn’t publicly announced the removals, observant customers noticed the absence of certain favorites.
Among the discontinued items are:
- Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken Burrito: This burrito was a popular choice, leading to a Change.org petition urging Taco Bell to reinstate it.6
- Beefy Melt Burrito: A classic option with seasoned ground beef, Fiesta Strips, and nacho cheese sauce.7
- Chicken Chipotle Melt: A simple yet flavorful flour tortilla filled with grilled chicken, cheddar cheese, and Chipotle sauce.
- Fiesta Veggie Burrito: This one featured; Black beans, seasoned rice, Fiesta Strips, sour cream, a three-cheese blend, tomatoes, guacamole, and a creamy chipotle sauce.
- $5 Classic Combo: This combo offered a drink, a specialty item, a smaller classic item, and a side or dessert for a budget-friendly price.8
In their place, Taco Bell has introduced a range of new menu items, including some previously tested in select markets. The chain has also reintroduced a “Decades” section to the Cravings Value Menu, featuring vintage favorites like the Tostada, Green Sauce Burrito, and Meximelt.
The Crispy Chicken Nuggets also made a nationwide debut on Dec. 19th after over a year of undergoing testing in a limited market.
They launch alongside two new sauces; Bell Sauce and Jalapeño Honey Mustard
While some fans may mourn the loss of these discontinued items, Taco Bell’s menu is constantly changing… both a good and bad thing for customers looking to try new items and customers that are set in their ways.
Be on the lookout for some more upcoming food announcements hitting the menu in the New Year.
