Burger King Japan is no stranger to outlandish and delicious limited-edition burgers, and their latest creation, the “Great King Yeti” One Pounder, certainly lives up to that reputation. On February 2nd, this behemoth landed on the menu in Japan.

The One Pounders are a BK Japan exclusive consisting of 5 different versions with four beef patties on each. They’ve been released one at a time over the last 12 months, and include; the King Yeti, the Crown Burger, the DX Maxi, the Strong, and the 23/’24 T.O.P. Burger.

King Yeti One Pounder

The King Yeti weighs in at over half a pound (507 grams) and clocks in at a staggering 1,637 calories, the Yeti is designed for those that like a challenge. The savory beef patties are balanced by the richness of the Gouda cheese, while the white cheese sauce adds a touch of tangy creaminess. Onions and pickles provide a welcome crunch and acidity, cutting through the richness and preventing the burger from becoming overwhelming.

It packs a powerful punch, boasting four flame-grilled beef patties, six slices of Gouda cheese, and a creamy white cheese sauce, all nestled within a toasted sesame bun.

This year’s iteration, the “Great King Yeti,” marks an evolution of the King Yeti line. The most notable change is the addition of a new mayo sauce, further amplifying the whiteness and caloric content (to the delight of some, and perhaps the horror of others!). Reviews suggest that this new sauce enhances the overall flavor, adding a distinct layer of creaminess that complements the beef and cheese beautifully.

In early January, the 23/’24 T.O.P Burger was launched in time for the New Year, and now the King Yeti takes it’s place as the current One Pounder iteration at BK Japan.

The price tag (1,990 yen, or about $13.41) is a bit daunting, but BK sees this burger as a limited-edition, experience-driven burger. It’s not your everyday lunch; it’s a challenge, a feast, and a conversation starter. And, for those who conquer the beast, there’s the added bonus of a commemorative sticker, a badge of honor for completing the Yeti-sized task.
