Taco Bell is at it again. Voting is in session to bring back one of two retired fan favorites from Taco Bell menus past.

The return of ‘favorites from the past’ has been a key marketing strategy for Taco Bell and other fast food chains as of late.

This ‘bring-back’ is doing it little differently this time by bringing fans on board in the decision.

Both of these candidates at one time were major players on the menu, and experienced success as long-running staples.

For the first time Taco Bell will be enabling fans to make the vote through their app, with the winner of this historical stand-off between these two contenders…to come back for a limited time.

Enchirito

The first option for your vote; is the Enchirito. “Part Enchilada. Part Burrito“. This burrito first came onto the scene in the 1970s and stayed for 40 years until 2013.

The Enchritio was a saucy bean, beef and onion burrito wrapped up in a soft flour tortilla. It was drizzled with red sauce and cheddar cheese.

Ultimately messy but it packed a punch-full of taste.

The next in the running is the The Double Decker Taco which hit Taco Bell in the mid-nineties.

It was originally supposed to be offered for limited time but when customers expressed their love for the Double Decker, it enjoyed a 13 year stint before being retired in 2019.

Double Decker Taco

The Double Decker featured one layer of a flour tortilla spread with a layer of refried beans with a second hard taco shell layer that was placed inside cradling all the staple accoutrements – beef, lettuce and cheese.

It’s not everyday you get to vote back a retired champion and bring it back from the cheesy depths of Taco Bell’s bygone days.

Fans only have until October 6th to cast a vote, so choose wisely.
